WASHINGTON - Congressman Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) made the following statement today concerning the passing of President Ronald Reagan:
"As President during my high school and college years, Ronald Reagan had a tremendous impact on my entire generation. He brought trust and respect to the Oval Office. He inspired millions as a true statesman.
"Today, I was so deeply saddened to learn of the passing of the man who is probably the greatest American of our time.
"Sadly, in many ways, President Reagan had not been with us for years due to his struggle with Alzheimer's disease, but the news today serves as an important reminder of this truly great man's legacy. President Reagan restored American confidence, and transformed the world by helping to bring an end to communism. In today's era of partisanship and negativity, the lessons of President Reagan are especially inspirational. President Reagan was able to cut through partisanship, and look forward with optimism to the promise of a better day for America, and all that she stands for. We as a nation will always be in his debt, and his vision will live on in the hearts and minds of his fellow countrymen. My prayers are with the former First Lady, and the rest of the Reagan family."
