Sen. Cornyn Meets With Metroplex Hispanic Business Leaders In Washington

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, today hosted a meeting with leaders from the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GDHCC) and the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce in his Washington office. From the GDHCC, Sen. Cornyn met with Frank Rosello, Chairman of the Board of Directors; Dr. Alfonso Pino, Chair-Elect; CiCi Rojas, President & CEO, and other representatives. From the Fort Worth Chamber, Sen. Cornyn met with Brad Gorrondona, Chair-Elect, and current Chair Sandra McGlothlin. Sen. Cornyn was also joined by Nina Vaca, Board Member of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

"It was a pleasure to meet with leaders from the Greater Dallas, Fort Worth and U.S. Chambers who are doing excellent work to create opportunity for Hispanic professionals and yield economic growth in the Metroplex. We discussed the unfortunate reality that Dallas-Fort Worth is not immune to the nation's economic downturn, but we agreed that the independent spirit and ingenuity of local business leaders is sure to carry the Metroplex through this economic storm. I assured them I will continue to do my part on the federal level to complement their efforts and support Hispanic small business owners and middle-class families through tax relief and pro-growth measures. We discussed several initiatives of importance to the Hispanic business community in Dallas-Fort Worth, including the upcoming debate on the Employee Free Choice Act, also known as the card-check legislation. I assured them I share their opposition to this legislation that would kill jobs and do away with an employee's fundamental right to use a private ballot when deciding whether to join a union or not."
