Statement of Governor Kaine on Expected Nomination of Gov. Kathleen Sebelius

Governor Timothy M. Kaine issued the following statement today on the expected appointment of Governor Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas as Health and Human Services Secretary:

"I am pleased to hear that President Obama is considering Governor Kathleen Sebelius to be his nominee for Secretary of Health and Human Services.

"Governor Sebelius is a nationally-recognized leader and expert on health care and has a strong record of improving access to quality services in Kansas.

"I have had the honor of working with Governor Sebelius during our time in the National Governor's Association and have seen firsthand her hard work and great leadership pay off to the benefit of millions of Kansans—including my own parents. I have no doubt she will be a strong advocate and a ready partner in carrying out the President's vision for comprehensive health care reform.

"I am confident my friend Governor Sebelius will continue her incredible record as a dedicated public servant, and I am sure she will be a great asset to the American people in her new role."
