Shaheen: Over $24 Million Coming to New Hampshire in Economic Recovery Funding Through the Department of Housing and Urban Development

SHAHEEN: OVER $24 MILLION COMING TO NEW HAMPSHIRE IN ECONOMIC RECOVERY FUNDING THROUGH THE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT

U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen today announced that $24,888,429 in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funding through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is coming to New Hampshire. The funding will be distributed at both the state and community levels in formula funding for Public Housing Capital Funds, Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), Low-Income Housing Tax Credit funding, and Homelessness Prevention Funds.

"This funding will help New Hampshire communities fund important projects that will create jobs and help families find quality affordable housing," said Shaheen. "I'm pleased to see funding allocated in the economic recovery package is getting to states and communities quickly, and I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues in the Senate to make sure this legislation continues to help the people who need it most."

Of the economic recovery package funding for projects and programs administered by the HUD, nearly 75 percent was allocated to state and local recipients this week. The remaining 25 percent of funds is for competitive grant programs and will be awarded in the coming months.
