DORGAN ISSUES STATEMENT ON NOMINATION OF MARY WAKEFIELD TO HEAD FEDERAL HEALTH AGENCY

U.S. Senator Byron Dorgan (D-N.D.) issued a statement Friday on President Obama's decision to name Mary Wakefield, a Grand Forks resident, head of the federal Health Resources and Services Administration.

"Mary Wakefield has earned a reputation as one of our nation's top experts on health care policy, especially in rural health care. This is an excellent choice for the Obama Administration.

"Our country faces significant challenges with respect to health care. We need desperately to take bold action to improve the health care system in our country, and Mary Wakefield will help us do that. I look forward to working with her to improve health care in North Dakota and across the nation."
