Klobuchar Praises Minnesota National Guard Preparing for Departure to Iraq
U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar released the following statement praising the troops of the Minnesota Army National Guard's 34th Red Bull Infantry Division, who are leaving Minnesota for training for a one-year deployment to Iraq. The first group of soldiers left yesterday and the final group leaves today.
"Today, I join Minnesotans across the state in expressing our gratitude for your service and our prayers for a successful mission and a safe return as you prepare to deploy in support of U.S. operations in Iraq.
"Minnesota is a state where we wrap our arms around those who serve and sacrifice for us. We are deeply grateful - every day - for your service to our country as citizen-soldiers. It's a deep sacrifice for you and your families, but you're also fulfilling a profound duty and responsibility to the American people and the nation. Each one of you has found in yourself a duty to serve -and with your service, you follow in the great tradition of Minnesota citizen-soldiers who've done our state and our country proud in every battle. Today, we send up a prayer for your safety and success."
