Murphy Statement on the Sale of First Light, Owner of Candlewood Lake

Congressman Chris Murphy (CT-5) released the following statement on the sale of First Light, owner of Candlewood Lake, to Suez Energy North America.

"The news of the sale of First Light, the owner of Candlewood Lake, doesn't come as a surprise, but we need to ensure that this sale doesn't adversely affect the rights of residents or the health of the lake. Recently First Light has been working closely with the communities surrounding Candlewood Lake to resolve a number of outstanding issues related to the Shoreline Management Plan. I hope the new owners will support that process and understand the residents of Lake Lillinonah, Lake Zoar and Candlewood Lake must have a say in how it is managed. I am also writing to FERC to ask them to ensure that this transaction does not lead to increased rates, diminished customer service, or reduced community input on the management of the Lakes."
