Walberg: Only a Few Days of Session Remain and Still No Comprehensive Energy Plan

"Speaker Pelosi Fails to Allow a Vote to Increase Energy Production and Expand Alternatives"

U.S. Congressman Tim Walberg (R-MI) today issued the following statement as the number of days Congress is in session dwindles.

"New week, same thing: Speaker Pelosi and the Democratic Leadership are again failing to allow a vote to increase American energy production and expand the use of alternatives. Speaker Pelosi is still blocking exploration of the Outer Continental Shelf, Alaska's North Slope and the Inter-Mountain West; nuclear energy or clean coal-to-liquids technology; lawsuit reform and the building of new refineries. The Speaker seems insistent on enacting $19 billion in energy tax hikes on American consumers, manufacturers and small businesses.

"In short, Speaker Pelosi appears content to wrap up the House's legislative session with no votes on real American energy initiatives. As the cost of oil rises above $100 per barrel, Congress needs to act now to allow more drilling, more alternatives and more conservation to help Michigan families."
