Statement from Paul Tonko Candidate for New York

State's 21st Congressional District

"As a member of the Assembly, I repeatedly enjoyed the support of the Albany County Democratic Committee.

In recent weeks, I have had the opportunity to speak to many of its members personally, and address its candidate review committee. I thank them for their time and consideration and appreciate the significant support I have received thus far both publicly and privately.

I look forward to a vigorous primary campaign, and I am confident that when the

Democratic voters have the opportunity to express their preference in the voting booth, they will embrace my candidacy and the agenda which I believe is important to move the country forward, such as: bringing an immediate end to the war, providing an affordable and accessible health care system, and implementing an energy policy that strengthens the economy.

I invite all Democrats in this diverse seven-county district to join my campaign, and together we will discover opportunity rooted in optimism and deliver the promise of a new hope for our region, state, and nation."
