Congressman Robert C. "Bobby" Scott will hold a forum entitled "Is Virginia Ready for 2008 - A Look into Election Practices & Procedures" on Monday, October 6, 2008 at 6:00 P.M. The forum will take place in the General Assembly Building, Senate Room A, located at 910 Capitol Street in Richmond, Virginia.
Joining Congressman Scott at the forum will be Nancy Rodriguez, Secretary of the Virginia State Board of Elections; Gracia Hillman, Commissioner for the U.S. Election Assistance Commission; and Tova Wang, Vice President for Research at Common Cause.
Panelists will discuss problems encountered during previous election cycles, measures that have been taken to address these problems, and preparations under way to ensure a smooth Election Day on November 4, 2008.
"This November Virginians are expected to vote in record-breaking numbers. We need to be prepared to ensure that everyone has a chance to vote without difficulty, delay, or unlawful obstacles," said Rep. Scott.
