KTEN - Congressman Cole Visits Ada

United States Congressman Tom Cole visited Pontotoc County Thursday. The congressman presented a local town with two grants and also touched on our nation's energy outlook. KTEN's Hailee Holliday reports.

Congressman Cole says he believes an energy plan must be developed that ensures Americans affordable heat and businesses and farms affordable prices in natural gas.

He says this is especially true in Oklahoma, where we produce so much energy.

Cole recently conducted an energy summit in Oklahoma, where the state's top energy leaders discussed the future of gas and energy prices.

Cole says with Oklahoma's rich natural resources, the state is on the right track to help the nation reduce it's reliance on foreign oil from overseas.

He says right now innovators in Oklahoma are working to create new ways to help the people in this state get the most out of a gallon of gas by developing alternatives.

Cole says, "We have a great future in oil and gas, although nationally we aren't doing the things we ought to be doing. We also have other things that Oklahomans don't think about. Wind power, obviously is a natural for us and biomass, not ethanol biomass but switch grass in particular has a lot of promise so Oklahoma could be a 21st century leader in energy just as it was in the 20th century."

Also while in Pontotoc County, the congressman presented Stonewall with two grant checks. One for a medical clinic and the other for a new police patrol car.
