Titus Discusses Commitment to Nevada's Veterans

Third Congressional District Candidate Dina Titus held a news conference today to discuss her commitment to Nevada's veterans, military retirees, and men and women in uniform. She was joined by Assemblyman David Parks, who served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, and Valerie Smith, who served in the Air Force for 10 years and is a disabled veteran.

"Our veterans have earned through their sacrifice, commitment, and patriotism, the support of a grateful nation," said Dina Titus. "As a member of Congress I will make it my solemn pledge to take care of those who have taken care of us. As our troops continue to return home from Iraq and Afghanistan I will fight to make sure they return to a Veterans Administration that is first class, fully funded, and providing the resources and support our veterans have earned."

"Southern Nevada's veterans needs a representative who will stand up for them and their families every time," said Assemblyman Parks. "For 20 years, Dina has supported veterans in the State Senate, from bonuses to Nevada's National Guard to improving care in veterans' homes and cutting property taxes and other fees on veterans. Unfortunately, time and again Jon Porter has voted against the needs of our veterans, supporting budgets that underfunded the Veterans Administration and cut vital services for our veterans and denying bonuses to our troops in harm's way."

"Dina Titus has been a champion for Nevada's veterans. She was the driving force behind the creation of the Nevada women veterans' coordinator position in an effort to make sure that women who served their country would receive quality and equitable health care services," said Valerie Smith. "Because of Dina's efforts women veterans have a voice in the Nevada VA system, and with her fighting for us in Congress, I know we will have equal VA benefits."
