Statement of Congressman Sherman Regarding Possible Changes in Personal Investments

Press Release

Date: Oct. 10, 2008
Location: Washington, DC

I have no inside information about how our markets or economy overall will perform over the coming days.

As a public official dedicated to transparency and to avoid any ex post facto speculation regarding the rationale for my investment decisions, I am providing the following notice regarding changes in my personal investments as well as my reasons for making these changes:

I will likely move significant assets from the Dreyfus S&P 500 Mutual Fund to funds that invest primarily in municipal bonds or Treasury bonds and also move substantial funds already invested in municipal bond mutual funds into Treasury bonds.

I still intend to retain substantial assets in either the Dreyfus S&P 500 fund or in another broad-based equity fund, perhaps a mutual fund that is similar to the Dreyfus S&P 500 fund that imposes lower expense charges.

I thought it best to make these intentions public before I act upon them. In normal times, I simply comply with House disclosure rules. Only the combination of these unique economic times, and my intense involvement in the recent Bailout Bill caused me to issue this notice.
