"Turner champions service men and women"

In Congress, Turner has been a leader in working to protect our military personnel and honoring them for their sacrifices. Turner voted for the recent G.I. Bill, included in the 2008 Supplemental Appropriations Act, which increased health care benefits, housing allowances, insurance benefits and education opportunities for America's veterans. The G.I. Bill also allows veterans to transfer unused benefits to their immediate family. Additionally, Congressman Turner voted for the Wounded Warrior Assistance Act, a law aimed at improving VA medical care for veterans.

During the 110th Congress, Turner aided area veterans by working with regional leaders and the Greater Dayton Area Hospital Association to create a task force aimed at improving local veterans' health care. In addition to this, Congressman Turner worked with the Dayton VA and the Clinton County Veterans Commission to establish screening services for veterans living in Clinton and Highland counties. As a result, these veterans are able to travel closer to home to get many of the services they need.
