"Mike Turner protects Wright-Patterson Air Force Base"

Prior to Congressman Turner's election there was no representative for Wright-Patterson Air Force Base on the House Armed Services Committee (HASC). Turner filled that void. Now a three-term member of HASC, Congressman Turner has fought for increased spending on national defense and has worked in Congress to keep Wright-Patterson Air Force Base strong and its jobs intact. As the top employer in the Congressional District, and the largest single site employer in Ohio, Wright-Patterson is one of the most important drivers to the local economy.

Working closely with community leaders, Congressman Turner successfully advocated to bring $230 million in federal funding and 1,000 new jobs to Wright-Patterson during the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) process. By the time BRAC is completed a total of $413 million is expected for the base, which is the largest single investment in military construction for Wright-Patterson since WWII. Congressman Turner continues to work with local and national leaders to help plan how to help further Wright Patterson Air Force Base as the leading research and development base in the world.
