Sen. Cornyn Pledges Continued Support For Pro-Growth Policies That Encourage Economic And Energy Development In Victoria

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, today met with Victoria business and community leaders to discuss the latest legislative activity in Washington and also local initiatives underway to promote growth and create jobs. The event was hosted by the Victoria Economic Development Corporation and the Victoria Chamber of Commerce.

"With several promising economic development projects either underway or close to approval, it is an exciting time for the city of Victoria and the residents who live there. The city is poised for significant growth. I met with many of Victoria's business and community leaders today and assured them I will continue to do my part on the federal level to lower taxes and spur further economic growth," Sen. Cornyn said. "I support Exelon's proposed nuclear power project in Victoria, which has the potential to create local jobs, generate revenue for the community, and yield significant amounts of clean energy. This is just the kind of alternative energy initiative we need to encourage to make our nation more energy independent. I hope Congressional leaders will soon drop their obstruction to common-sense proposals I've been supporting that would boost domestic energy production, just like Victoria's Nuclear Power project, and reduce our dangerous dependence on foreign oil."
