Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Steve Cohen released the following statement today after the House passed H.R. 7005, The bill passed by a vote of 370 to 58:

Today, I was proud to vote with an overwhelming bipartisan majority in the House to pass legislation that will make key investments to move our country forward and fund critical government services upon which the American people rely.

The bill provides almost $23 billion in federal disaster assistance in response to recent hurricanes in Texas, Midwestern flooding and tornadoes and wildfires in the West. Additionally, this legislation will provide immediate assistance to millions of Americans with home heating bills this winter.

This Congress has made taking care of veterans one of its highest priorities, and we showed that again today by approving an additional $4.1 billion to care for our wounded warriors.
