Cantwell Statement on Extension of Expiring Tax Incentives

Today, U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) issued the following statement after a press conference held by House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and members of the Democratic Blue Dog Coalition to discuss the extension of expiring energy, business, and individual tax incentives:

"The Senate package of tax breaks for middle class families and businesses is real stimulus that will spur innovation, create jobs, and put money back in the pockets of hard-working Americans. I respect and agree that we should not pass more debt to our children and grandchildren. However, at a time when our economy is faltering, this package would have helped grow our economy, created 500,000 jobs and marked a sea change in our national energy policy by moving us away from oil and gas and onto a cleaner energy future."
