Durbin Calls Latest Canadian National Move "Corporate Sleight-of-Hand"

Just days after the Surface Transportation Board denied Canadian National's request for an expedited decision, U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) today released a statement following Canadian National's announcement that they have asked the U.S. Court of Appeals intervene in the approval process for its purchase of the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railway.

"When Canadian National could not change the rules, they decided to try to change the referees," said Durbin. "This is the kind of corporate sleight-of-hand which destroys any confidence Illinois communities have in this railroad."
