Congresswoman Sánchez is working to bring jobs and economic growth to our communities. Our most urgent domestic challenge is to put the economy back on track and create good jobs. That's why Congresswoman Sánchez supports a fiscal plan that promotes putting money back into the pockets of working families. She proposes to do this through tax cuts that do not increase the national debt, but benefit hardworking American families.
* Helping our Local Economy - In her first three years in Congress, Congresswoman Sánchez has secured over $29 million for the projects in our district. Of that amount, $17.35 million went to transportation projects; $790,000 for local education programs; and $10.8 million to environmental improvements.
* Raising awareness of labor and working family issues - Congresswoman Sánchez is a founder of the "Congressional Labor and Working Families Caucus." The purpose of the caucus is to protect workers' rights and working families by tackling important issues like overtime, minimum wage, and health care. * Protecting American Jobs - Congresswoman Sánchez is working hard to keep jobs on American soil. She is a sponsor of the "United States Workers Protection Act of 2005," (H.R. 3406) which would prohibit taxpayer dollars from being used to outsource work presently done in the United States.
* Helping to protect small business - Congresswoman Sánchez has worked to help the economy by trying to save small business loan programs like the 7(a) Loan and Microloan Loan Program from Bush Administration budget cuts. Congresswoman Sánchez opposes tax cuts for the wealthy when paid for by cutting programs that help working Americans and add to the national debt - a burden that will be carried by today's youth.
