As a member of the House International Relations Committee, Congresswoman McCollum takes serious her role ensuring U.S. foreign policy reflects the values of the American people. She is working to promote effective U.S. leadership in confronting the AIDS pandemic, as well as reducing poverty and hunger in Africa and improving the status and health of women and children around the world. McCollum opposed the U.S. invasion of Iraq, yet has traveled there twice to meet with U.S. troops and Iraqi leaders. Since becoming a member of the International Relations Committee, McCollum has been a leader on important issues including calling for U.S. leadership in Darfur and as a founding member of the Congressional Global Health Caucus.
