Issue Position: Deficit & Spending
Balancing the budget is really just a matter of common sense. If we are spending more than we have, we need to do one of two things. We can either increase revenue or cut spending. Congress, however, has allowed the budget to spiral out of control.
When we look at each issue separately, we can easily forget the fact that the federal deficit and government spending play an overarching role in all aspects of life: commuting to work and traveling, protecting our families, retiring, receiving adequate health care. Many of our nation's problems could be solved if we had unlimited funds.
Unfortunately, we do not have unlimited funds, and members of congress spending money as if we do is simply making our problems worse. We must prioritize and limit government spending. As a business owner of 35 years, I have developed the judgment to manage money responsibly, based on efficiency and logic, not partisan politics and special interest groups.
