Klobuchar: Hwy. 43 Bridge Closing Shows Need for Improved Infrastructure Investment

U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar issued the following statement Wednesday on the closing of the Hwy. 43 bridge at Winona:

"The safety of our citizens should be paramount, and closing the Hwy. 43 bridge was the only adequate response to clear signs of decay in our state transportation system. This closing is one more sign that infrastructure maintenance in our state - and across the nation - has fallen behind the needs of our communities and the requirements of basic safety.

"I will continue to work with state and local officials to address the immediate needs of area businesses and residents, and I will continue my fight for increased investment in our nation's aging infrastructure.''
