Durbin Statement on Passage of Medicare Fix

United States Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) released the following statement after the Senate passed the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act, a bill which prevents a scheduled Medicare payment cut to doctors - ensuring better treatment for Medicare recipients and veterans.

"The strong bipartisan vote for this measure is good for seniors, our military families and the medical professionals who serve them."

"Real credit goes to Ted Kennedy who made a special sacrifice to be on the Senate floor and turn the tide on this important vote."

"Now we need the President to reconsider his opposition and join the overwhelming majority of the House and Senate in supporting Medicare."
