Capito Statement on Our Nation's Independence Day

Rep. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) released the following statement today about celebrating the founding of our great nation:

"Unlike most holidays, the Fourth of July allows us the opportunity to celebrate the truly revolutionary ideals of a nation founded on freedom and liberty," said Capito. "While we may sometimes take them for granted, our nation's founders certainly did not.

"We owe them, and the thousands who have since fought to maintain those freedoms, our respect, our remembrance and our thanks.

"As we enjoy the backyard BBQs and fireworks over this holiday weekend, I encourage all West Virginians to also remember the true splendor that we celebrate on the 4th of July - our nation's founding."
