CARTER STATEMENT FOLLOWING MEETING WITH FEDERAL RESERVE CHAIRMAN BERNANKE

Rep. John Carter (TX-31), House Conference Secretary made the following statement after meeting with Federal reserve Chairman Bernanke.

"Today's meeting with Chairman Bernanke was both productive and informative. We discussed the housing crisis and possible solutions to address the economic concerns of middle-class American families. One thing the Chairman and I both agree on is raising taxes on the back of a slowing economy is not only bad but flat out irresponsible policy. After hearing Chairman Bernanke's expertise on the matter, I hope that the Democratic Leadership will join Republicans and create good policy that will put our economy back on the fast track."
