Capito Statement on Terrorist Surveillance Bill

Congresswoman Welcomes Compromise, But Says Agreement Should Not Have Taken So Long

Rep. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) released the following statement today regarding the bipartisan agreement to update our nation's foreign intelligence surveillance laws:

""Though I am thankful to finally be able to vote on this bipartisan agreement, this is a compromise that should have been reached months ago," said Capito. "The delay, coupled with the expiration of the Protect America Act, created unnecessary obstacles for our intelligence community.

"Yet, I appreciate the fact that this final agreement has garnered such bipartisan support. It is imperative that our intelligence community have the tools, resources and flexibility they need to do their job. This bill provides that support, while also protecting the civil liberties of the American people. I am pleased with its passage."
