Statement Of Gov. John Hoeven On The Death Of Spc. James Holmes

BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today issued the following statement in response to the death of Spc. James Holmes of Grand Forks, who died today in the service of his country as a result of wounds incurred in Iraq. Spc. Holmes was a member of the North Dakota Army National Guard's 141st Engineer Combat Battalion:

"On behalf of all North Dakotans, Mikey and I extend our deepest sympathy to the family of Spc. James Holmes, who made the ultimate sacrifice for his country this morning. We mourn him today as a true American hero, and we pray that his family may find pride in his courage and comfort in the compassion of all North Dakotans."
