Senator James supports a plan to provide full funding of AIDS education and research, SCHIP program, Mental health research; physical, organic diseases, provide equal access, and ensures cost containment and revenue sources to support Alzheimer and nursing care programs.

Our nation is facing a health care crisis and it needs to be addressed immediately. "My Husband Elmo and I have worked hard all of our lives in hopes of one day living the American dream and retiring comfortably to watch our grandchildren grow. Throughout our careers we participated in home ownership, good investments and savings, and paid into health care insurance. Post retirement my husband became extremely ill and required continuous dialysis treatments, which drained our savings because of the lack of coverage provided by our HMO. We pay thousands in health care expenses just to keep my husband alive."

Every American should be confident that whether they lose their job, change jobs, become sick, or just grow old, they will be able to find affordable, high quality health care. We must also focus on ways we can make it easier for employers to provide health insurance to their employees and incentives for employees to purchase health care plans. The traditional system is failing hard working Americans and causing additional burdens on families. Access to high quality health care should be available to all American regardless of where they live, their racial ethnicity or income. However, racial and ethnic minorities are too often denied the high quality health care many other Americans receive. she has and will continue to be an advocate for the Medicare and Medicaid ensuring these important programs do not fail. "I am here to work for Georgia, and I will put forth a dedicated effort towards quality health care initiatives."

* Support Americans with Disabilities: Senator James is committed to strengthening and better enforcing the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) so that future generations of Americans with disabilities have equal rights and opportunities. we must restore the original legislative intent of the ADA in the wake of court decisions that have restricted the interpretation of this landmark legislation.

Senator James is also committed to ensuring that disabled Americans receive Medicaid and Medicare benefits in a low-cost, effective and timely manner.

* Improve Mental Health Care. Mental illness affects approximately one in five American families. The National Alliance on Mental Illness estimates that untreated mental illnesses cost the U.S. more than $100 billion per year. Senator James will support mental health parity so that coverage for serious mental illnesses are provided on the same terms and conditions as other illnesses and diseases.
