Governor Rounds expresses sympathy for tornado victims

Gov. Mike Rounds today issued this statement on the devastating tornado that struck the Little Sioux Scout Ranch located in western Iowa:

"I am saddened to learn of this tragic loss, and our hearts go out to the families and friends of those who were killed or injured in this horrible disaster. It's particularly troubling to realize that some of our best and brightest future leaders of the Boy Scouts were taken by this storm.

I am however, encouraged by the bravery shown by the scouts and leaders, who not only survived, but helped rescue their fellow campers. I spoke with the lone South Dakota scout at the camp, a soon to be 15-year-old from Dakota Dunes who recently made Eagle Scout. He told me the leadership and direction from the adults, as well as some of the older scouts were the reasons that anyone who could, made it to safety, and no one was left behind.

I ask that all South Dakotans keep these young men and their families, as well as the families of those who were lost, in their prayers."
