Smith Comments on Veto of Farm Bill

Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) today released the following comments following President Bush's veto of the Farm Bill this afternoon.

"I'm disappointed we were unable to come to an agreement satisfactory to both Congress and the Administration. It has been more than two years since work began on this necessary legislation beginning with listening sessions in nearly every state, including Nebraska.

"This wasn't a perfect bill. I would have preferred the Farm Bill contain more reforms, but it does take some steps in the right direction. More than 500 agriculture organizations nationwide and in Nebraska have urged passage of this bill," Smith said.
