Graves Blasts President for Farm Bill Veto

U.S. Congressman Sam Graves issued the following statement on the President's veto of the Farm Bill:

"I am extremely disappointed by the President's decision to veto the Farm Bill and deny the 65,000 Sixth District farmers and ranchers the help they need. Being a farmer myself and the only member of the Agriculture committee from Missouri, I know how important this bill is to our farmers."

"The Farm Bill passed Congress with bi-partisan support and deserves to become law. While this is not a perfect bill, our farmers and producers are depending on it. I have talked with farmers throughout the Sixth District and they tell me that this Farm Bill works for Missouri and they want it to become law."

"The whole country depends on agriculture three times a day and the Farm Bill ensures that we continue to have the safest and most abundant food supply in the world. By vetoing the Farm Bill the President has only hurt our ability to provide the country with the food it needs."

"We have too many politicians and too few farmers in Washington. They simply do not understand how important the Farm Bill is to farmers and rural communities. I will continue to work to make sure the Farm Bill becomes law and will vote to override the President's veto."
