Statement of Governor Warner on Senate Finance Committee Approval of a Compromise Revenue Proposal

RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today issued the following statement on the action of the Senate Finance Committee.

"I believe today's unanimous Senate Finance Committee vote, along with expected full Senate action tomorrow, will give the House an opportunity to bring this budget impasse to an end.

"The Senate proposal fits within the framework of the House compromise, and will allow us to meet our core commitments and protect our fiscal integrity over the long-term.

"With positive action tomorrow by both chambers, we can finally provide Virginians with a fiscally responsible budget. Failure to pass this proposal places Virginia on a course that I believe will disrupt the lives of millions of Virginians who depend on state and local services."
