Issue Position: Transportation
The growth of the Third District has brought much good with it, but it has also brought challenges. Perhaps the biggest challenge is the need to build and maintain a transportation infrastructure that will make future economic development possible and keep us from being stuck in traffic all day.
I serve on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and during the last reauthorization of the highway bill, I worked to ensure that Arkansas received as much money as possible. Hence, that bill contained almost $140 million for projects in the Third District of Arkansas and more than $2.3 billion for our state's highway needs. Air travel in the Third District has boomed, too, and I continue to work to see that our airports have adequate capacity to handle this growth.
