Washington Republicans Targeting New Mexico

Statement

Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Mike Duncan recently announced that the RNC is supporting Darren White's bid for Congress and that they plan on pouring money into New Mexico this year. You know what that means: attack ads - and plenty of them.

The Washington Republicans understand the importance of New Mexico and that's why they're committed to doing everything in their power to turn New Mexico into a red state. It's up to us to stop them.

It's also clear that Darren White, the 2004 Bush/Cheney campaign chair, is a darling of Washington Republican establishment. Last year, Congressional Republicans ponied up big money for Darren and now, the RNC is coming to his aid. One thing is for sure: the Washington Republicans love Darren White - and, they don't love him because he'll stand up for New Mexico - they love him because he will march in lockstep support with their out-of-the-mainstream agenda. He'll support a continuation of the Bush/Cheney policies that have resulted in endless war in Iraq, an economic downtown and giveaways to big oil that haven't done anything to move us toward energy independence.

If you like the policies of George Bush and Dick Cheney - then you'll love Darren White. He's exactly the kind of Bush Republican that the Washington crowd loves.
