HOEVEN ENDORSES SEN. JOHN MCCAIN FOR PRESIDENT
Gov. John Hoeven, along with five other Republican Governors, today endorsed Sen. John McCain for President of the United States of America. Hoeven met with McCain at some length last week in Washington, D.C. to discuss national issues and issues close to North Dakota.
Hoeven cited McCain's long experience in public service, strong leadership on national defense and his commitment to hold the line on taxes.
"Senator McCain is a tried and true leader," Hoeven said. "He is a genuine war hero, having served his country in Vietnam, including five and a half years in a prisoner-of-war camp. In these challenging times, we need a strong leader like John McCain to ensure that Americans are safe both at home and abroad.
"Domestically, Sen. McCain has made a commitment to hold the line on taxes, which is important as this country faces a possible economic slowdown. It's also important because the American people, not government, should make decisions on how to spend their money."
Also endorsing Sen. McCain today were Governors Sonny Perdue of Georgia, Bob Riley of Alabama, Linda Lingle of Hawaii, Haley Barbour of Mississippi and Bobby Jindal of Louisiana.
