Statement of Governor Warner on the Scheduled Execution of Dennis Mitchell Orbe
RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner tonight issued the following statement on the scheduled execution of Dennis Mitchell Orbe by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
"Mr. Orbe was convicted in 1998 of the capital murder of Richard Barnett. The death sentence imposed on Mr. Orbe has been reviewed and affirmed by several courts, including the Supreme Court of Virginia and the Supreme Court of the United States.
"After a thorough review of the Petition for Reprieve, the facts pertinent to the Petition, and the judicial opinions regarding this case, I decline to intervene."
