New Paul Sawyer Commerical: About Woody Jenkins' Personal and Financial Relationship to David Duke

Paul Sawyer today released a commercial that talks about Woody Jenkins' personal and financial relationship to extremist leader David Duke.
Jenkins was fined by the Federal Elections Commission for hiding a payment of $82,500 to David Duke during Jenkins' candidacy for the U.S. Senate in 1996. Duke was later convicted of tax evasion for not reporting to the IRS his income and his relationship to the company that received the payment.
As late as 2007, David Duke expressed his friendship with Woody Jenkins. On October 30, 2007, on the website www.davidduke.com, Duke defended his "libertarian" voting record. Duke proclaimed, "No one, I repeat, no one in the legislature had a more libertarian record than perhaps one man, my friend Rep. Woody Jenkins who had a similar voting record."
"Mr. Jenkins' relationship with David Duke is an embarrassing example of the very corruption we are desperately trying to clean up in Louisiana. Only yesterday, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the success of passing the most sweeping ethics legislation in the history of Louisiana. Just when we are on the road to real progress improving Louisiana's image to the nation, Woody Jenkins' candidacy for Congress is a stumble to our dark past," said Sawyer.
"Being a public official is a privilege, and those who seek office to one of the highest offices in the land should hold themselves to both the rule of law, and the ethical standards that voters demand. Mr. Jenkins has betrayed our trust over and over in his 37 years in politics, and it is important that voters have full disclosure so that they can honestly choose those who are fit to serve," said Sawyer.
"As your Congressman, I will uphold the highest ethical standards as a public official. As I have done for 16 years as a Chief of Staff in Congress, I will continue to serve the people of the 6th Congressional District with complete transparency and diligence," said Sawyer.
