Issue Position: Homeland Security
The attacks of September 11, 2001 changed the thinking of how we protect our American homeland. I support the Patriot Act and believe we need to give our terrorism investigators and prosecutors the tools they need to fight the war on terror, while also protecting our constitutional rights. I also believe we need a Department of Homeland Security that can create a stronger, more streamlined, yet accountable program of federal financial assistance to state and local governments and first responders who are responsible for protecting our homeland.
