REP. LARSON: Thank you, Ron. First, let me congratulate the Speaker for reaching out as she always does in a bipartisan fashion to make sure that we address this very important issue that faces our country. President Roosevelt challenged another generation saying that they had a rendezvous with destiny. We have before us a rendezvous with reality. That reality is crushing down upon the middle class here in this country, and it's a reality that drives us here to work on behalf of the American people.
As my colleagues have outlined and articulated so well, that reality starts with veterans and continues on to make sure that you meet the concerns of health care, education and the dignity that comes from being able to look across the table at your spouse and say that you have a job and that you're employed. We're going to seek to do that in a targeted and timely fashion. Again, I commend the leadership and turn it over to my colleague, Chet Edwards.
