CORNYN: ECONOMY IS ROARING BACK WITH NEW VITALITY

WASHINGTON-U.S. Sen. John Cornyn made the following statement Friday regarding reports that the economy grew at a better than expected 4.1 percent annual rate in the final quarter of 2003:

"Even while there are those who are bad mouthing the American economy on the campaign trial, most Americans know better. The reported growth figures show that the economy is roaring back with a new vitality and one that is sure to create job opportunities for everyone who wants to work.

"In a global economy and a much more competitive world, we need to do everything we can to continue to train our workforce and to retrain people who find themselves out of work. I am convinced that the American people, who have always succeeded, indeed have always dominated in the world-wide competition, will continue to be successful."
