Sessions Denounces Democrat Tax Raid Plan For Families

U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-Dallas) today released the following statement on House Democrats' "Mother of All Tax Hikes" legislation:

"At last, Democrats have unveiled their ultimate goal: to raid the pockets of families and businesses through the largest income tax hike in American history.

"I will vigorously fight this assault on taxpayers and pledge an unwavering commitment to its defeat.

"As the champions of political expediency, Democrats should denounce this crass tax scheme immediately or face a one-way ticket out of Washington."

Note: On October 24, 2007, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charlie Rangel (D-NY) outlined tax legislation to add a 4 percent surtax on Americans earning more than $150,000 a year ($200,000 for couples), increase the individual income top tax rate from 35 percent to 44 percent, and allow the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts to expire.
