REP. SHIMKUS (?): Marsha, you want a stab?

REP. BLACKBURN: Do what?

REP. SHIMKUS (?): Do you want stab at it?

REP. BLACKBURN: Well, I'll just say a couple of things. Number one, we know that so many of the women in this country are just so -- they are infuriated with going to the pump. They were paying $2.29 a gallon at the first of the year. They're paying $3.01 now. If you are a mom who has had some of the jobs I've had in the past -- being the room mother, being the scout leader, being the ball coach -- and you're loading up a SUV or a minivan, filling it up a couple of times a week, you are seeing your gas prices escalate over $500 a year.

And this is something, as you're seeing, going from 55 (dollars), 60 (dollars) a barrel for crude to $98.62 today on the New York Exchange. That's something that is just -- it's of concern. We know it's of concern. This is a crisis of inaction because we have a leadership that is refusing to do something. The '05 energy bill brought forward some good provisions. We're seeing good things happen in new nuclear in other areas, and what we have at the pump and with home heating oil is fully a crisis of inaction. It could be dealt with. It is a shame that it is not.
