DeLauro Statement on Nomination of Gov. Schafer as Ag. Secretary

Washington , D.C. - Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (Conn.-3) issued the following statement on the announcement that former North Dakota Governor Edward T. Schafer has been nominated by the President to be the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. DeLauro serves as chairwoman of the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration Appropriations Subcommittee.

"I would like to congratulate Governor Schafer on his nomination to be Agriculture Secretary. I look forward to sitting down with Governor Schafer in the near future. As a former governor of an agricultural state, I know we have a common interest in revitalizing our nation's great farming tradition."
