WALBERG SUPPORTS PUTTING LOW-INCOME CHILDREN FIRST AND HELPING WORKING FAMILIES AFFORD HEALTH CARE

Washington, Oct 25 - U.S. Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-7) will vote against H.R. 3963, the latest expansion of the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) House Democrat leaders are forcing a vote on today.

"Speaker Pelosi has refused to move the Veterans Funding bill for 132 days, yet she is forcing a third House vote on legislation that will move 2 million children from private to government health insurance, allows illegal immigrants to receive the benefits, and forces Michigan taxpayers to pay for government coverage for non-Michigan families earning $62,000 annually and above," said Walberg.

Congressman Walberg and three House Freshmen sent a letter to Speaker Pelosi yesterday suggesting a bipartisan approach to help over 10 million American children have access to quality health insurance. Congressman Walberg has received no response.

"I request again for both side to come together by focusing the dollars on maintaining coverage for needy children, making private health insurance more affordable for working families, and ensuring illegal immigrants do not receive taxpayer-funded benefits," added Walberg.
