REP. MOORE: AFFORDABLE HOUSING IS AN ESSENTIAL TOOL IN STABILIZING A COMMUNITY

Congresswoman Gwen Moore released the following statement on the National Affordable Housing Trust Fund Act, H.R. 2895, which is expected to pass the House of Representatives later today.

"I've always said that two of the most essential tools in stabilizing a community are to provide housing and education. This bill achieves one of these goals by providing a much needed funding stream exclusively for affordable housing.

"A working American family deserves a decent home but rising housing costs are squeezing low-income Americans out of affordable housing.

"By creating a national affordable housing trust fund we are preserving and building new housing, assisting in homeownership efforts, emergency housing repairs, homeless shelters, and housing-related services.
