Rep. Lofgren Votes for Iraq Redeployment Measure
Bill Would Instruct President to Report Redeployment Plan to Congress
Washington, D.C. - Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-San Jose) today voted in favor of H.R. 3087, a bipartisan bill which would require the President and senior Administration officials to report to Congress on its planning for the redeployment of troops in Iraq within 60 days and every 90 days thereafter. The bill also includes language recognizing the extreme valor of our armed forces and civilians serving in Iraq.
"This bill is a tiny step forward in ensuring the safe return of our forces from Iraq," noted Rep. Zoe Lofgren. "While it does not end the war, it at least requires the President to begin to plan to end the war. As my record demonstrates, I remain fully committed to the swiftest possible withdrawal of all our forces from Iraq, and will continue working to that end."
