Diaz-Balart Praises Vote Condemning MoveOn.org Advertisement
WASHINGTON, DCToday Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL) made the following statement praising a House vote that condemns the recent MoveOn.org advertisement placed in the New York Times against General Petraeus:
"It is unfortunate that House Democrat leadership attempted to block a floor vote condemning this slanderous and degrading attack on the credibility and personal integrity of one of our nation's finest citizens," said Diaz-Balart. "Today Congress came together and approved a Republican sponsored measure supporting General Petraeus and our troops overseas. He and the brave men and women in uniform deserve the utmost respect and gratitude of our nation for their service, and Congress should be the first to support them."
House Democrat leaders had previously refused to allow a floor vote on the measure, which passed today with a bipartisan vote of 341-79.
