Statement by Rep. Gillibrand on the Administration Denying New York's Plan to Insure All Children
Washington, DC- Today, Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand released the following statement regarding the Administration's denial of New York State's Plan to expand Healthy Child Plus:
"This Administration's decision to deny the New York State plan to cover more children under Healthy Child Plus is very disappointing and denies progress in the struggle to fix our dysfunctional health care system. An estimated 400,000 children, who would otherwise lack access to health care, would be covered under this critical federal-state partnership. Today, these 400,000 children from working-class families remain uninsured in New York. With 9 million uninsured children in America, the Administration should be working with the states to achieve a comprehensive health care plan to close the gap in health care coverage. I look forward to working with the New York delegation and Governor Spitzer's office to overturn this decision and to fight to insure all of New York's children."
