Congresswoman Moore: SCHIP is Compassionate Legislation

Congresswoman Gwen Moore released the following statement as the House prepares to vote for SCHIP legislation later today:

"If you want to talk about compassionate legislation, SCHIP is it. This bipartisan legislation will give 10 million underprivileged children the health care coverage they so direly need and deserve. Think about that - that's 10 million children who could receive much needed care to keep them healthy in their formative years.

"I hope the President thinks long and hard about vetoing this fiscally responsible legislation that will help struggling families provide necessary health insurance to their children.

"This isn't about politics, it's about our children. I hope to see the bill's swift passage and the signature of this President who long ago made claims that he was a ‘compassionate conservative.'"
